SplashTop is an instant-on Linux environment for laptops and ultra-mobile devices. I went off about how instant-on functionality was important in a previous "Coffee with ThoughtFix" episode. I think this is a much better idea than the HTC Shift's minimal "advanced BIOS" interface for the "sub-boot" operating.
GottaBeMobile already showed off a SplashTop embedded laptop so I'll show off the other option: SplashTop booting instantly on the Asus EeePC. Watch their video for a good explanation of what SplashTop is and watch the video above showing it operating from an Eee on a USB stick.

Kewl! Glad you actually got the video to prove it works (even off a USB stick).
When I saw the photos at Engadget, I thought it was just a spreadsheet or a screenshot [link in Spanish].
:-)
Hi,
really amazing idea this Splashtop OS.
Do you know when it will be available?
Back in the forums they say that the OS has to be on an motherboard integrated flash-disk...
Actually it looks like you can just boot it from a normal USB-flash drive.
Thank you for your video :)
