The last month has brought on a new direction for ThoughtFix LLC.
I realize with bloggers like GottaBeMobile, JKOnTheRun, JKK, Steve at UMPCPortal, and others - I cannot keep up with the focus on Windows Vista based UMPCs. I consider all of the above friends in the blogging space and wouldn't want to compete with them anyway. Many of the bloggers above, however, turn to me when it comes to non-phone, non-PC pocket Internet devices (especially Linux-core machines) like the Nokia Internet Tablet, the iPod touch, and the as-yet-unreleased MID devices.
With that in mind, I'm going to shift gears a bit in my blogs. TabletBlog.com will continue to be dedicated exclusively to Nokia Internet Tablets whereas UltraMobileGeek.com will take the direction of other non-phone, non-PC Internet portals. UltraMobileGeek will continue to be my sounding board for editorials on mobile broadband, Web 2.0, accessories, and (non-Nokia) device reviews. With Intel and others fully behind Linux based web tablets, it'd be nice to keep my focus in an arena I know well.
I don't want this to reflect an abandonment of Microsoft entirely. There are some things I do every day that are unmatched in any other platform. Vista on a UMPC is fantastic but is either outpriced or underperforming for the mass consumer market. The Origami form factor will not be abandoned either - I'll just leave the Windows specific stuff to better bloggers. Other bloggers know mobile Windows best. I'm a Linux guy at heart.
Now I have to begin the quest to catch up and integrate myself in the MID, Moblin, Midinux, and other communities.
One final news bit - Don't look for all my writing on these blogs either. I am going to start to guest blog (and maybe eventually become a regular) outside ThoughtFix branded blogs. There's nothing concrete here but I'll post updates when I start posting elsewhere.
