With the first generation UMPCs over a year old and second generation models keeping us excited, it made me wonder what I want to do with my beloved TabletKiosk eo v7110 once my next UMPC arrives. Thanks to TabletKiosk's experience with enterprise verticals, I already have an answer.
For those who don't know, VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) decided on a standard measurement for bolt holes and bolt size/threading for all mountable flat displays. You will find VESA holes in the back of nearly every LCD monitor or TV and even some of the flat iMacs had VESA mount options. They are made to be balanced for stability but easy repositioning if needed.
The eo models have a mounting bracket option which can be used with or without a quick-release. In the above picture, I am using the Universal Mounting Plate for the eo v7110 (also available for the eo v7200 series) in conjunction with the Universal VESA Plate and a standard desk clamp VESA monitor arm. My monitor arm is rated up to 18 lbs so has no problem keeping the UMPC steady.
Installation was a breeze: Bolt the Universal VESA Plate to the arm, replace some screws in the back of the eo with extended length screws through the mounting plate, and then twist-lock the mounting plate to the VESA plate. This can be even more handy, as ProClip USA products (previously reviewed here) also have a vast array of mounting options for VESA standard devices in vehicles and more. This prevents me from having to leave the adhesive "move clip" attached to the UMPC.
What will become of my eo once the next UMPC arrives? It will probably end up bolted to my nightstand next to my bed with a USB DVD-ROM and a pair of good speakers. It may stay attached to my couch to keep my Zelda cheat-sheet next to me as I play with my Wii. Since the arm is attached with a simple "G Clamp" type arm, it will likely do both.

Hi Thoughtfix,
You mentioned ProClip USA having the N800 car mount by mid of the year. Any news?
I just sent a message to my contact at ProClip USA to ask. I'll keep you posted!
