UMPC 2GB SODIMM experiments

As Kevin (jkontherun) mentioned earlier today, he and I have been collaborating to find out which UMPCs. Looks like he got all the luck.
His test: Samsung Q1P.
Result: Success! Check his article and follow-ups for performance improvements.

My tests:
TabletKiosk eo v7110
Installation:
Result:
The machine booted with the chip installed, but the memory wasn't recognized as 2GB. It showed the exact kilobyte count as the 1GB chip. I asked TabletKiosk and AMTEK if they had any BIOS updates, but no luck.

The Samsung Q1b
Installation:
Result:
No POST. If this is a BIOS issue, it has yet to be resolved by Samsung. I have the latest Q1b (03EA) BIOS installed.

Good news for Intel based Samsung owners, but no good news for me. Stay tuned to JKOnTheRun for more experiences with a 2GB UMPC. It was a pleasure working with you, Kevin!

So now who do we bug for a fix to get this working with our Q1b's?

Original Q1 passed the test.

Well, I went and checked with the chipset team and unfortunately the VIA VX700 chipset in the Samsung Q1B and the VIA VN896 chipset in the TabletKiosk eo UMPC v7110 only support 1GB DIMMs. I had to double and triple check with them to make sure, but that's the answer that came back.

I tried upgrading my Q1b with a 1GB and got this same result? Confused while others are walking around with 1GB I'm left with RAM envy :( I have most recent BIOS and original 512 works fine. Upgrade was a 1GB Kingston SODIMM module from BUY.com. Guess the memory could be bad but it's brand new. Any thoughts??
