CF Card adapter arrived

My CF to IDE adapter arrived from Addonics today, but as you can see I have only two 2GB CompactFlash cards. The good news is that the eo v7110 recognizes the CompactFlash cards in BIOS as IDE drives. The bad news...

After running my restore DVD on my 40GB drive and removing everything I could, but still had 4.5 gigs used on the drive. I could have built a Windows installation from scratch and still gotten in under 2 gigs, but that's far beyond what I'd ask anyone else to follow (and too long for a simple HOWTO.)

What happens now? Well I already contacted SuperTalent and SanDisk to see if they wanted to lend the CompactFlash cards needed for the experiment, but have had no reply from either. I may have to bite the bullet and buy an 8GB CompactFlash card retail before I can see if I can do Windows. The cheapest I have found is $120. Suggestions on best prices and retailers for a FAST yet cheap CF card are welcome.

Windows, however, isn't the only operating system I'm considering for this experiment. *wink*

btw. hope your cf cards have error correction etc.

If you use cheapo cf cards ment for cameras, windows will be crashing...

You need cards build for the porpuse.

Typically 4 gig card costs 300 to 500

Ok I am really lost here. What are you trying to do?

Are you trying to replace your harddrive with cf cards? If so what would be the benefits?

benefits:

faster
better batt life
super durable

It won't work! I am using Sandisk Extreme IV and Ultra II (both 8GIG). The interface is a lot slower than that with HDD and the data transfer could be 10 times slower than HDD.

I used to put outlook pst file on the CF but it was too slow and very unstable.

You'd better wait until Solid State Disk becomes available in the market.
