The first challenger steps to the plate. Dynamism sent out a Kohjinsha SA1. I will set up my experiment scenario and prepare it over the next two days, then Saturday evening will have my grand unplugging and I will use the SA1 as my only workstation for two weeks.
I charged it up an applied pathes as I edited the video below and am now at a coffee shop online via Bluetooth DUN to Verizon EV-DO.

Cool. I've been impressed by that machine from Chippy's use of it. It's definitely one of those devices with price/performance/portability tradeoffs. With the AMD chip and not having a touchscreen, it cuts costs but increases battery life. If you look at it as a tiny, inexpensive laptop instead of a UMPC, then it might be for you.
